Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, at least in the eyes of America, into the child prodigy category. But for a person with Irish heritage surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family, these were very natural traits. Maureen was welcomed into the family-oriented home on the 17th of August 20th in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and participated in rough, competitive games as a child. Additionally, she had a gift for acting. This is why she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for dramatic and acting in her country of birth. At the age of 14, she was accepted into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre and operatic singing.
